Daily Punter Sphere Ranking System

Hi Punter fans.

Today we are here to unveil our new swish interactive programme of bringing dreadball teams together from around the Sphere.

Gerald Dorksworth proudly presents the "Daily Punter Sphere Ranking System"

*SRS*
(If anyone is handy with designing and wants to come up with a cool logo)
The SRS with record results from any registered team that plays in a ranked match and will give them points based on the results this will be compared with all the registered teams from around the sphere to form a ranking and each month we will show case the top 10 teams as well as a few others.
The details
Ranked Matches - In order for a match to be considered ranked and therefore count towards your ranking both teams must be Registered members of the SRS. The process is simple and a registration form is included at the link below. (Coaches may have multiple teams just register more than one) Ranked matches must only be standard dreadball matches (no Ultimate or Xtreme yet!) They can however be part of a league or one off games or even just friendlies.
To have your ranked match recorded simply complete the Results form for each match (Not each player) (We suggest the loser has this task) and your results with be uploaded to the Daily Punter datasphere for ranking.
Teams are ranked by SRS Points which are earned like so.
4 Pts for a Landslide Win
3 Pts for a Win
2 Pts for a Draw
1 Pts for a Loss
0 Pts for a Landslide Loss

+ 1 Pts per Cheer in the game.

The system also accounts for a complex system to ensure that results cannot be massed by playing the same team over and over.

To receive 100% of the points the game must be classed as UNIQUE.  If a game isnt unique both teams only receive 50% of tge points.

To be classed as unique the home team, away team and result ie home win, must not be the same as a previous match that month. This gives teams the chance to play each other a few times before the points received for the game are reduced.
There are plenty of other stats recorded so plenty of limelight to be had each month.
And so without further rambling I give you the links to start your teams SRS journey.

Forge Father Rules Continued now with added STATS

The results are in! Well some of them are. Take a look at this lovely collection of graphs and numbers.
Disclaimer first. This is all purely numbers it cannot replace actual play test but does offer a base to work from.

Following our recent work on fixing Forge Fathers, our Chris went and got his geek on with spreadsheets and did some theoretical modelling...

Firstly lets discuss the model used.
This test has used a random number generator to model 1000 results of a Human Corp Guard Slamming a Forge Father Striker. In the test the guard gained the + 1 dice for moving into a slam.

We have modelled 5 different suggested fixes and applied them to 5 Forge Father Strikers. Each one uses the same set of dice rolls so we have a picture of what would of happened to each in each individual case.

The dice rolls are all created by using a random number between 1-6 generated by excel (=randbetween(1,6) for those that want to know.) we have modelled exploding sixes to a degree of 40 possible 6's chained together (Which is a 1/6^40 = 7.481E-32). We generate separate sets of dice rolls for "The Slam", "The Dodge/Brace" and "The Armour Saves".

The five suggested fixes that we have modelled are:

FF Normal = Current Forge Father striker (Control group)
FF Grizzled = Forge Father Striker with Grizzled
FF can Brace = Forge Father striker who can use the "Brace" slam reaction as mentioned in our previous post.
FF CFaT = Forge Father with "Cant Feel a Thing"
FF Speed 4+ = Forge Father with speed 4+

My Thoughts
Initially Speed 4+ is too good. The striker ends up winning when being slammed 28% of the time this just doesn't seem right we were trying to make them survivable not Judwan.

CFaT while it looks good stats wise, they still lose quite a bit but don't die or get injured. This needs further testing as it then brings in the problem that FF cant get up very well, and of course if they fall over they lose the ball.

Brace seems to come out as predicted it makes them less likely to get doubled 32% so hold onto the ball for longer something needs to be looked at as they are also winning 28% of the time like speed 4+

Grizzled seems to be the best fit at the moment reducing the amount of times they get taken out for 3 or more. Worryingly they end up doubling the guard the most at 18% but they have the lowest just winning 6% this is also reversed they have a low chance to only get beaten but quite a high chance of being doubled without injury.

Next
We are going to try and model the effects of giving these rules to Forge Father guards and Jacks to see what happens when they slam themselves. Particularly interested in Grizzled and CFaT (mini buzzcuts).

Then we can take the results to the tables and see how it changes actual play.

If anyone would like to generate their own results and compare them, or check that we haven't done anything wrong below is a link to a blank .xlsm doc use the buttons to generate your own results.

Please discuss.

Outpost League Results Week Five

New Format whooo

Game 1
Roaring Riptides vs Tribianni CHUMS
Game postponed till week 6 due to a Riptide lady having an irrational fear of monkeys. Stay tuned for a match report.
Game 2
New Zoal All Hacks vs Laniidae Shrikes
Landslide win to the Shrikes even the bruising power of Buzzcut couldn't help the Hacks stop the gender confused Shrikes winning streak. They are now 4-0-0 and firmly at the top of the table heading into their divisional matches.
Game 3
ICE Devils vs The LAW
Battle at the bottom saw an action packed, MVP assisted Devils show who is the tallest midget in this weeks scrap. Defeating The LAW by 7 never before have either team seen so many strikes scored by stunties. In over news Buzzcut has reportedly lost a multi-million credit deal for a new energy drink called "Buzz Juice" due to his image stability this might be because yet again he fail to kill anyone in this match and found himself mostly on the floor being stomped on by Forge Fathers.
Game 4
Osaka Squids vs Teraton Avalanches
In the royal rumble of Oriental foodstuffs the Turtle soup (TA) beat the Fried Calamari (OS) by 0 strikes that's right once again in this league we see the Squids defeated by having their only goal scorer removed in sudden death. Rumours are abound that Tribianni may be selling tactics on the Black Market and it looks like the Avalanches went shopping. Although the low strike score could hurt the Teratons later in the league when they are fighting for rankings with the high scoring Shrikes and Krumpers
Byes
Blueskin Krumpers
Blueskin Krumpers spent their bye week with a little down time and have been spotted out with family doing their festive shopping. What exactly do you get a 6'6" Blue Orx for Xmas?

STATS Galore
4 point Strikes
This week we took a look at who was trying to score the big points for quick wins or fan appreciation. So here is the breakdown. remember it was only in Week 5 Games.
Roaring Riptides, Tribianni CHUMS, The LAW, Blueskin Krumpers, Teraton Avalanches and Osaka Squids got no 4 points. Rubbish Krumpers you can be excused just but no wonder some of the rest of you lost.
The All Hacks got one 4 point well done. But the winner of the 4 points scored in week 5 was Mr Humble himself and his ladyboy Shrikes with two 4 pointers.
Next week your playing not only for your team but for your race. Racial averages coming your way.

Missing results - Looks like Ben has up'ed his game but past his curse to Will. Will will you send in some results. Sorry could help the wills.

The Outpost League Results Week Four

So in this week it looks like Buzzcut is selling himself to anyone out there playing in no less than 2 games.

League organisers and Buzzcuts agency have been in meetings all week to discuss how we can improve both his and the leagues earning. He has been quoted saying "My abilities to crush are in demand and for that you have to pay premium".

The Law managed to not lose a game this week by not playing... a crafty trick.

Tribbiani CHUMS have won a game but the game was more what can Buzzcut do for you and less about Monkey Business.

Ben has manged to send in a result

The Krumpers have sped to the top of the table with wins over both the Teraton Avalanches and The Osaka Squids.

The Squids continue to lose strikers with opponents lining them up as their next sushi dinner and charging at them like a kamikaze pilot.

The ICE Devils' game plan has gone stone cold. Not only are they Forge Fathers (more on that tomorrow) they cant score, slam or pick up the ball. Week 5 they play fellow Forge Fathers The Law, maybe one of them can even win?

Looks like the Human teams are taking an early lead in the team points even with new players at the helm - all credit to Adrian and Ben (apart from the fore mentioned results issue)

But the surprise package might be the Teraton Avalanches, they are currently in a mid table spot but are only 4 points from leaders and divisional rivals the Krumpers and have 2 games in hand. You heard it here first watch out Turtles are about.

In case anyone was worried "The Enforcer" has undergone the concussion process and is fine after his run in with Buzzcut, that from his Agent P Potts.

STATS GALORE

This week we shall have a quick look at who is top of the Fandex. Drum roll please.

For next weeks STATS can you please send in (includes you Ben) how many 4 pointers your team scored so we can give praise to the goal machines out there.

Outpost League Week Two Results

Looks like the league is hotting up with Laniidae Shrikes taking an early lead by netting 2 landslide wins. But will that increase in TR come back to haunt them in week to come once people start using their underdog bonus to by Giants and Buzzcutt. The copper division is looking strong with both the Krumpers and the Avalanches in the top 3. Coach Blakemore looks like he might be struggling to get to grips with the Forge Fathers but he has a late game divisional game against the Riptides which could give him the chance to climb up the table.

So with week 3 starting today and all teams are in the mix it could be all change come this time next week. Look for the Avalanches to improve on their win over the Squids and the CHUMS to restore Coach Jimmis winning record against the Shrikes to really mess with the league. Its all to play for in the Outpost League.

Stats Galore, Week 2, Kills

This week we shall take a look at who is throwing the big hits. First off lets see who killed the most in week 2.

Its a Tie with Blueskin Krumpers and The Teraton Avalanches with 2 Kills each. Told you the Copper Division would be bloody. The Krumpers also have the highest total Kill tally with 4 over 2 weeks if that continues they will end up winning due to dead opponents.

The list for the more humane teams is a bit bigger with Roaring Riptides, The New Zaol All Hacks, I.C.E. Devils and Tribbiani CHUMS yet to kill anyone.

In other news the award for not following the league rules goes to Coach Ben Ryan for not sending in any results at all. Consider yourself told Ben send your results in as per the league rules.

Until new week.
