The League is a Comin'

Comin' soon to an 'Outpost' near you!
In just over a weeks time The latest season of The Outpost League will kick off. 9 Teams are already registered and a few are waiting in the wings, they better be quick deadline is 23:59 on 29/10/2013. This is the 3rd time the Blackburn-Taylor power house has ran this league and is set to be the biggest yet. With the experience of 2 successful leagues under their belt already, a few tweaks have been made here and there to get the best experience for everyone involved.

This Season all 12 teams are eligible, and with the increased fame of the Outpost League, all the MVPs have flocked to get involved. This increase in Star players has in turn increased profits so expect to see higher rated teams than before and all those MVPs sharing themselves out across multiple games each week. That's right, they're no longer unique! They are however, still unique to that game being played. We hope that this change will make competition more fierce and give a handy boost to lower rated teams as they can use their underdog bonus to secure the likes of Slippery Joe or Buzzcut or any of the new Giants from season 3.

Speaking of Season 3, plans are afoot to have a league get together just before the Xmas break to play a few of the Ultimate games for big money league money. More details coming soon.

As always the Daily Punter team will be bringing you the best of league news and gossip, With Thonk, Walker, Gerald Dorksworth and Gabby "The Beard" Logan all ready to go.

To help us make sure we have all the cool happenings we encourage all coaches to send in match reports to thonkandwalker@gmail.com and we shall get them on the punter.

Keep an eye on the Punter next week for fixtures, team rosters and much more.

One last thing GAME ON!

Around the Sphere Wk Commencing 14/10/2013 ( Drunken Lateness)

I told Walker Cocktails were a bad idea.

This week has seen some nice additions to the Mantic store, especially some helpful packs to complete your teams. These come in the shape of free agent packs, one for each of the first 2 seasons and as a bonus for being a robot coach you get the quick change artist pack. Which is really helpful to build a full robots team. Go grab them.

With only a few weeks left before the end of Outpost off season, its soon time to start Season 3 of the Outpost League. The Daily Punter with all its new found investment is going to be your hub of info on the comings and goings of new and old teams, and of course your favourite duo will be back bringing you the scoops and Gaby "The Beard" Logan will be pitch side for interviews and more.

If you are still yet to sign up for the Outpost League head over to the Outpost forums and sign up.

Stay tuned Dreadball fans, this time its going to be 'Giant'!

In other news, Mantic have recently released info around their favourite crossover MVP, "Blaine" from extreme. He is now making an appearance in Mars Attacks (such a PR Hussy). In other Mars Attacks/Dreadball News Ronnie Renton all but confirmed a Martian team in the future, and in true Mantic fashion stole Thomas Silcock's Xmas Elves idea - how cheeky (not that Mantic have done this before hey Tom?)

That's all for this week. Catch you [ed - on time hopefully] next week.

Around the Sphere - Wk Commencing 23/09/13

Welcome to a weekly round up of the all the Dreadball comings and goings that we at the Daily Punter have discovered, stumbled upon and sometimes made up.

Big news this week is this little picture above, which was sneaked out in a recent and cryptic post by Jake Thornton on his blog. Very little was given away, but that hasn't stopped wild speculations from the masses. These include:
  • A Card game version of Dreadball
  • Mantic are planning up to SIX Seasons plus Extreme.
  • Jake and Ronnie were just playing a game of poker
I'm hoping for option two - 6 seasons of Dreadball would be great! What would you like to see in new seasons? New teams? What types? I would love to see a Yndij, Sorak or Plague team, also some more giants as they look like fun. I also think some more skills as I felt a bit disappointed in the lack of new skills available to level ups in Season 3. Tell us your thoughts in the comments. [Holy cow, you sound like a kid making a Christmas list!! - ed]

In other news, the Outpost, in Sheffield held its 3rd single day event last Sunday. It was a great success with 12 players involved in a full day of Dreadball, plus a slap up Mexican lunch! The Mighty Dorks took the win in flawless fashion as well as coming away with the prize for the best uniform (Best Painted). We'd like to say a big thanks to The Outpost Wargames Store in Sheffield for being a gracious host providing food and a heap of prizes. Look out for more Dreadball events happening there soon including The Outpost League Season 3 starting in November. As always the Daily Punter will have all the news and hot gossip.

With all this news of Martians invading its easy to miss that Season 3 is about to be released and the new stuff looks great. I love the pitch, both design and material and cant wait to get some games on it. Also the Giants are some of the best Dreadball models Mantic have made. In addition to these, Mantic have the new prone markers, keepers and alternative sculpts for Season 1 and Season 2 teams; these are great and I cant wait to add them to my teams just for the difference in models. I was however, slightly disappointed that the robots don't get a keeper but hey ho the robots prone counter makes up for that; he [it - ed] is brilliant. [Mantic advise that you use the robot MVP as a keeper model - ed]
